CalDon's First Letter

April 25, 2013

Mi familia,
The CCM (the MTC in Spanish) in a word NOTASBADASITHOUGHT it would be. I honestly don’t know what else to think, the first little bit was a little like being cattle. They led us around, asked questions, gave us paperwork, and then we were in a classroom learning some Spanish. I don’t really remember our teacher’s name, it’s something like Hermano Mantegi. Oh ya, and my companion is Elder Eddiangton. He is pretty cool grew up in Pleasant Grove. It is actually quite funny; he was on student council and in the band (I’ll send pictures later). The rest of my district is great, we have 2 elders that are 21 or 22ish and then 2 elders that are 18 which is cool. The funniest thing about the 18 year olds is that you never can tell who is one. The best thing we did on the first day was the first teaching experience. It was hard and a lot of people struggled, but I won’t lie I felt that I killed it .It’s really fun here. Even if it just feels like a super spiritual camp. Today is Thursday and I started trying to write you guys yesterday, but the lights went out, and it was time for bed  that and I really hate hand writing anything. The good news that I have for you is that I have my MTC address and it is in this letter. That would be a good thing to put on the blog. It’s time for personal study, so I have to go, but I love you guys crazy. I will write you guys Thursday of next week because that is prep day for us.

So Long and Thanks for All the Fish!

My dear family,
I wish there were an easier way to leave and go spend two years doing the lords work. But I think it was meant to be hard. The more it hurts the more it means and the more in means the harder you work and the harder you work the more blessings get rained down upon us. Don't forget to keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I am trying to become fluent in a language so any help that you can give me will be great. I love you all and wish you the best in all you do.

This last month has been one of the hardest in a long time, a long time. It has all been good. In a lot of ways i have relearned how to be happy. I have made new friends some of the best in the world and I have found out just how important my family is to me. I love you all.
Keep your stick on the ice, and keep swimming.
Remember to hold tight and pretend like it's a plan.
Also, I really am not that far away If your feeling down in the dumps or a little blue write me and tell me. I promise I will write back. Just remember it will take time. but I do promise I'll write. I love you all so very much.
May the force be with you,
CalDon Preece

this is my present to my family our suburban just became the rebel mobile.

The rest of the pictures are of the after setting apart party. They're pretty sweet.

THE RECAP

Dear Elder Preece,
blah blah blah blah blah  ahhh (here it is) Piura, Peru (WHEW, its out of the states).
Yeah so that's about how opening my call went not typical for future missionaries but hey what can I say I'm an atypical person. However never underestimate the power of the atypical, they get stuff done, sort of whatever.
Anyway nobody likes words on blogs anyways. so here's some pictures

So the poncho and hat are not mine and I don't think i will be allowed to wear them but don't they just leave you looking for a word that is screamingly sexy and a tad humble oh right me llamo CalDon.

It's really funny I got my call almost 5 months ago it's been sooooooo long but its finally here. oh boy I feel a little nervous. but you know what it's all good. Even though I'm going to leave my family and friends this is what I am supposed to be doing. I'm going to miss y'all. Don't grow up to much and do things that I would feel bad about missing, like have fun  . .. eve ... I mean it if i hear about anyone remotely enjoying themselves I'm going to be ticked. especially because I'm leaving the best part of the whole world here in Utah.

yep that's right all my free running T-shirts haha jokes I really mean my fav pair of running shoes they are super sexy or I guess it could be my family. I mean look at them their beautiful.
BTW this pic is the best pic ever it looks like 12 people doing the Sasquatch.

I really am looking forward to this whole mission thing it always sounds like a blast and I love to explore and discover new places and things and even though I will start out super close to home. I am going to boss the language and follow the rules to a T because in two days my life isn't about me but about the lord and those who I have been called to teach. I love you all,
May the force be with you,
CalDon Preece

P.S. You can email me at
I will have somebody post my writing address because I don't know it yet
