Long letter

as for my week its been the equivalent of two train wrecks, a hurricane, and an avalanche. mixed into a smoothie with too much salt. and then spread all into a gaping bullet wound. or in other words it stunk. 

fortunately it wasn't anything that happened to me, but it's super sad at any rate. but i will spoil the story, and tell you the most amazing thing my mommy put my name on the temple roll just because she ¨felt¨ i needed a little bit of help. just between you and me, i cried a little when i read that because this week has been horrible. 

This week Elder Martinez suffered a huge blow. his little 7 year old brother was killed in an accident, and it has been so hard for him especially because his family is not supportive of his mission at all. he worked for seven years for his uncle to pay for his mission, and his uncle at the last moment pulled his support. his parents are sickly, and it's possible that they won't be there when he gets back. but still he is here and just to top it off his little bother gets killed. I FREAKING HATE SATAN. 

not to mention that our area is super tough and nobody wants to listen. it's just been a sucky week. but do you want to know the best part? I know that we receive help. i know that there is a mountain of 15 million members and the billions of righteous spirits cheering us on and praying for our protección and guidance. this gospel is so vacan(cool in peruano slang) 

I am so glad that you are doing great and that although still cold you're breathing and alive mostly. keep up the fight. and remember there is always always hope. that's what we need to help people see is the hope they can receive

More than that it's just the same old same old. with the new twists.

other thing: tiendas in every street 

cell phones. we finally got one, and it costs a fortune to call anybody. It is like 5 dollars for 30 minutes. it's nuts 

keep the faith and can't wait to hear about your lives. rapido comes the navidad.

oh we drink hot chocolate and eat fruitcake. yes you need to buy panaton for this christmas dianafria is my favorite brand. 

and my mom is the best mom in the whole world.

LONG LETTER

so this week has been a bit weird because it's been so freaking hot, but it rained today. so it was cool for the morning, but its hot again. soooo yeah that's about how it goes hot then hotter then hotter and hot hot hot hot freaking hot. 

as for happenings here in the good old peruvian jungle of querecotillo everything is calm. for the moment this last week has been kind of weird. we put up a tree for hermana jeni because her sons were in piura, and we had a blast. but you'll have to see the fotos. 

i have started to force my comp to run in the mornings, and he sure runs slow. but at least we get the exercise, and he doesn't just sit himself down and do nothing all morning. that makes me mad. but we just keep on every day working in the same way or at least trying to change it up a bit. it's been fun to force him to contact, but i know it's good for him. elder martinez has been one of my favorite compañions, and one of the very worst when it comes to the work. it's always elder where should we go i don't know. what are we going to do now . . .i don't know.

freaking elder. . . . but that's how it goes in the mission. the more obedient elders are the most boring and the disobedient drive me crazy. so choose your poison really. I just keep doing what i am doing cause i know i should and stuff.

i had been thinking that before my mission i really had no idea what the book of mormon was about. i knew that you could find good principles to live by and things like that, but i feel like you can't really know what the book of mormon is really about until you have a huge problem and search the book for answers. i think that's why god wants us to serve, so that we know what to look for in the book. 

to be honest although it's christmas, and there are lights everywhere. it's still weird because it's hot. i'm not sure if that's a bad thing because it feels like it's still july, and i already have 7 and a half months in the mission. 

the other day elder martinez asked me how to say i love you forever and i told him i love you tomorrow. haha

oh and hermana felicita sends greetings.. . from last week cause i forgot to tell you all

i don't know if you all feel this way, but i feel like life is a series of ups and downs. and we wait for the ups and then we fall for a bit and then we get up. and then we look at the time and only an hour has passed whew. 

things i have realized

i dont need all that much sleep

cold showers arent so bad

and a hour and a half passes really fast.
