Long letter
as for my week its been the equivalent of two train wrecks, a hurricane, and an avalanche. mixed into a smoothie with too much salt. and then spread all into a gaping bullet wound. or in other words it stunk.
fortunately it wasn't anything that happened to me, but it's super sad at any rate. but i will spoil the story, and tell you the most amazing thing my mommy put my name on the temple roll just because she ¨felt¨ i needed a little bit of help. just between you and me, i cried a little when i read that because this week has been horrible.
This week Elder Martinez suffered a huge blow. his little 7 year old brother was killed in an accident, and it has been so hard for him especially because his family is not supportive of his mission at all. he worked for seven years for his uncle to pay for his mission, and his uncle at the last moment pulled his support. his parents are sickly, and it's possible that they won't be there when he gets back. but still he is here and just to top it off his little bother gets killed. I FREAKING HATE SATAN.
not to mention that our area is super tough and nobody wants to listen. it's just been a sucky week. but do you want to know the best part? I know that we receive help. i know that there is a mountain of 15 million members and the billions of righteous spirits cheering us on and praying for our protección and guidance. this gospel is so vacan(cool in peruano slang)
I am so glad that you are doing great and that although still cold you're breathing and alive mostly. keep up the fight. and remember there is always always hope. that's what we need to help people see is the hope they can receive
More than that it's just the same old same old. with the new twists.
new favorite things of peru: the market of course. i found where it is in peru
other thing bodoques of milk and peanuts. they are the bomb. it's like a popsicle in a bag like otter pops but more vacan
other thing: tiendas in every street
cell phones. we finally got one, and it costs a fortune to call anybody. It is like 5 dollars for 30 minutes. it's nuts
keep the faith and can't wait to hear about your lives. rapido comes the navidad.
oh we drink hot chocolate and eat fruitcake. yes you need to buy panaton for this christmas dianafria is my favorite brand.
and my mom is the best mom in the whole world.

LONG LETTER
so this week has been a bit weird because it's been so freaking hot, but it rained today. so it was cool for the morning, but its hot again. soooo yeah that's about how it goes hot then hotter then hotter and hot hot hot hot freaking hot.
3r
as for happenings here in the good old peruvian jungle of querecotillo everything is calm. for the moment this last week has been kind of weird. we put up a tree for hermana jeni because her sons were in piura, and we had a blast. but you'll have to see the fotos.
i have started to force my comp to run in the mornings, and he sure runs slow. but at least we get the exercise, and he doesn't just sit himself down and do nothing all morning. that makes me mad. but we just keep on every day working in the same way or at least trying to change it up a bit. it's been fun to force him to contact, but i know it's good for him. elder martinez has been one of my favorite compañions, and one of the very worst when it comes to the work. it's always elder where should we go i don't know. what are we going to do now . . .i don't know.
freaking elder. . . . but that's how it goes in the mission. the more obedient elders are the most boring and the disobedient drive me crazy. so choose your poison really. I just keep doing what i am doing cause i know i should and stuff.
random fact i have one more person to add to the list of celeb look a likes:
Joyler pardo guerrero he looks like adam sandler but more tan.
i had been thinking that before my mission i really had no idea what the book of mormon was about. i knew that you could find good principles to live by and things like that, but i feel like you can't really know what the book of mormon is really about until you have a huge problem and search the book for answers. i think that's why god wants us to serve, so that we know what to look for in the book.
to be honest although it's christmas, and there are lights everywhere. it's still weird because it's hot. i'm not sure if that's a bad thing because it feels like it's still july, and i already have 7 and a half months in the mission.
the other day elder martinez asked me how to say i love you forever and i told him i love you tomorrow. haha
oh and hermana felicita sends greetings.. . from last week cause i forgot to tell you all
i don't know if you all feel this way, but i feel like life is a series of ups and downs. and we wait for the ups and then we fall for a bit and then we get up. and then we look at the time and only an hour has passed whew.
things i have realized
i dont need all that much sleep
cold showers arent so bad
and a hour and a half passes really fast.
i love yall keep up the good work
and may the force be freaking with you you freaking crazy gringos

hey every body.
how's it going? things down here are nice and hot. so hot in fact that i sleep with a fan on all night. i hope you like the pics of the bathroom of the elders of cerro mocho. it was hilarious. we had divisions, and it was quite a blast. Elder toolson and Elder zevallos live in a house chapel, and it's pretty big. but their bathroom is classic peru. it's out back and is what i would call macgyvered plumbing. it's funny how quickly peru can change from as modern as the us to 3rd world and then back again. but i love it all.
is it just me or are the weeks passing even faster? it seems like the last 6 weeks flew by cause my comp is almost done with his training. but i guess i sort of got lucky because he already had 6 weeks of training when i arrived, but it sort of sucked because he didn't give me any respect. and for that we have had a few fights. but we be good now. to be honest the mission seems like a dream: you leave the door and then you come back just as fast as you left, but it's night already. i don't know how to explain it. it really feels like i will be writing you in about 3 minutes and the date will be the 18th. but i guess that's not so bad.
new phrases for you are the following:
walk over there- anda por alla it means get out of here or vete for people that speak spanish.
the other is:
nothing happens- no pasa nada it means something like i have no idea haha they use it to say something is uncool or crappy.
i decided that querecotillo is an oasis in the middle of the desert.
this week we visited a schizophrenic and that was pretty wild.
it went like this: obama is an evil black spirit. what's happening with your country? it's run by an evil black spirit
bless my tv. its not working well. can you bless my newspaper?
and later as we were finishing up he blessed us to become catholics again. haha elder julcapoma and i didn't say amen.
not a really great story, i know, but it just reminds me that there are tons of really crazy people in the world.
i was told the reason mosquitoes bite me so much is that i have sangre gringa. made me laugh pretty hard.
but really not too much has happened. even though they tell us they are speeding up the work. but i raise the question is it weird to have a notebook that is for other missionaries to sign or am i just weird...
any way i send my love and eat lots of rice

sorry to hear that bigs bit the dust. i really liked him. oh well that's what happens from time to time, but perhaps bigs believes in the reincarnation and his spirit wanted to be a little closer to me cause i got a new plant. hahaha.
hope elder Eatough is fine, and that he is getting back to work. there will be plenty of people humble enough to listen over there.
as for the hambergur its the meat the ground beef is more like sasuage
to be honest pne of my favorite things about being a missionary is the ride to and from querecotillo to sullana. it's gorgeous, but teaching lessons and talking to people is super cool too.
alrighty, so the update of transfers: still in querecotillo. my pants are stressed to the max, and i a going to train a newbie again. he gets here tomorrow, which isn't so bad cause i am going to crash with elder parra from orem, utah for the night in marc bella lica or something like that. but today we had to get up at 530 to get elder J off for piura he was so stoked to get out you would think that we had a bunch of problems, which we did. we hit each others buttons a bit too well, and he was super quiet, always reading his book. super boring if you ask me. oh well i get to find out what new problems are coming my way. but that's the fun part about mission work is that you can always count
but times up sorry i did know

dear. family i hate freaking and disobedient misionaries.
so all the missionaries down here that are latin say freaking all the freaking time, and it really is starting to work on me cause i say it now. urrgggg but with time i will kick that habit too. they also say crapear which is supposedly crap. anyway that's just some mish jergas for ya.
something interesting is people actually read my blog. the other day hermana roper said her mother read the story about the scorpian in the bath room. yeah needless to say i was a tad bit . . . . . not imbaressead ahahahahahahahaha
star wars quote of the day
as han solo once said
good against a remote is one thing. . . good against the living that's something else.
so elder julcapoma {a mouthful i know} is rather well like a typical kid whose mom never let him buy his own clothes, but i'll let y'all guess how old he is. hahaha it will shock you to death.
also so far with my companions, all of them have started with a really awkward hug. don't know what that symbolizes, but i know it's probably a bad omen.
any way he has a spirit and enthusiasm like a 5 year old on a sugar high. but that's not the problem. the problem is he is new and doesn't know the secrets of the work yet {in other words how to bs like crazy hem hem use the spirit smiley face}, and all he wants to do is practice practice and more practice. and he takes forever during planing. we planned one night for almost 2 hours needless to say i need to repent for being cross and impatient. (it's a work in progress) that i call repentance
but all's well. apparently he likes to cook a lot, so i hope he teaches me how to cook peruvian food, but i doubt it. speaking of food our pensionista is awesome. she makes tacos that are the bomb. also i have gained like 6 kilos its scary. i have fat.
as for the dentist he said a lot of words in spanish that i didn't really understand, and the theme of the office was of course finding nemo.
as for my teeth i quote with translation "your dental work is very bakan (gravy or cool)" haha he had tons of questions about my permanent retainer, which i didn't have the answers. haaha tell bart gardner that a peruvian dentist has a dentist crush.

La Carta
so i have so news i´m going to be training . . . whaaaaat! it's really no big deal cause the elder i am going to train has already served for 6 weeks, and my comp is going to be leader of my old district. so i get to ride in a bus for 6 hours, and if i am really lucky i am going get a hamburger at the office. but i don´t count chickens before they hatch.
to tell the truth i am relieved to move onto a different ward's problems. our ward right now is really inactive, which is sad because all of the menos activos were my favorites. . . but that's life.
any way two big stories
the first in the pictures you get to see my second tarjeta de crédito (credit card for those that don´t speak it). because as a good dyslexic always does, i forgot my password, and the atm ate my old one. hahaha so classic but it gets better. my comp elder castillo forgot his password as well. and the machine ate his too. so we both had to wait a month to get our new cards. hahaahahah he only has 3 months left, and he had to get a new card. any way lesson learned. 2 strikes and then return to the apartment or call the office cause the president doesn´t like to pay fines.
the second
we have been teaching an aged less active recent convert whose true name is maria martinez. and whom i have deemed maria la loca. reason being she always had dreams about virgins and jesus and well more then that my elementary spanish skill cannot understand. in addition to that she was ancient and her wrinkles had wrinkles, but that is not all. she also loves animals dogs cats birds. and all of them live in her house. which for me is awful. not to mention her son acts a little flamboyant if you catch my drift. he also is less active. i should note that the animals of peru are not like those of the states they are uglier and dirtier and have bugs like nasty. i don´t touch any of them. even the pets. for an example one time we were teaching them and as her flamboyant son was petting one of there cats i watched the fleas crawl out of the hair over the nose and disappear in the neck. eew just an example. anyway this is pretty bad, but wait there's more. her house smells like cat pee. to put it kindly i held my breath. but to my comp she fell well with him or in other words he liked her and her house cause he tries to pet everything that's short has fur and four legs and sometimes with feathers and two. anyway about 7 days ago we tried to visit her, and she wasn´t there. no big surprise, however, later that night while talking to hermana mariela we learned that she no longer is with it, is to say she died. she had been sick with an infection so not only do i feel bad about calling her maria la loca, but also she´s dead. the saddest part is we didn´t reactivate her before she died. :´( anyway i´m going to let elder castillo deal with it because i got transfer. . . . the lesson learned here is nicknames aren´t a good thing because she knows now . . .
question for all When you think of Jesus what do you think of. . . . . . . ? down here i have really learned a lot about Jesus. really it's the crazy catholic culture down here. i realized that i don´t think much about jesus in comparision and that perhaps because we carry his name on our chest i ought to augment my faith in him just a little. which is to say i was thinking a lot about how is it that i could grow my faith a little during conference and lets just say i know now. My savior. that is a beautiful phrase because i know that he will help me whenever i need it. it's funny that it took seeing his name every day on cars and signs and stickers and every form of communication known to the christian world for me to realize my own lack of faith. but with assurity that he will bless me. I love the comparison of him becoming our father, when we are baptized. it gives me hope and fills me with love. (sounds really weird for me to say, but it's true. also i cried a little at the conference. but that is secret. got it) I love my salvador and want to serve him humbly with all my might. and you should too haha i know you are. also i have noticed the primary songs talk about jesus and his love a ton. . . you think i would have paid attention
anyways i love yall especially my parents viejitos

dearest family
this week was a good week. we had lots of investigators taught, and we even fixed a baptism date. but that's not really my success all the credit goes (rightfully to our father in heaven). This week i have realized 2 things the first is that i need to have a stronger testimony because the people of peru deserve somebody who can bring the spirit to a lesson and give them the strongest push towards the truth as possible. that's why i started reading the liahona or more specifically the 2010 october conference talks . . i think or it's april, but i am not really sure. anyway it's amazing how little i paid attention during all the general conferences in my life. i think i only remember . . .. well let's just say that it's not a lot. but they are really good. perhaps it took learning a different language to really learn how to listen to the spirit.
today we have had a really fun pday we when to head of cow or cabeza de vaca. it's a very little known inca relic, and it was sweet cause we got to walk all over the walls and in the pits. they had the coolest little pots and shells that had importance i´m sure. but i was a tad excited to just see everything. also they say that the city was built in the year 100 b c and it has been covered in dirt completely. and i was thinking what kind of event would have to take place to cover an entire city . . . oh . . . christ died. got it. to say less testimonio strengthened. ..
we also encountered a gheto park that i hope to show you someday i´m having some problems with my camera's card, but i hope to repair it. we have cambios next week, so i´ll be writing to tell you where i´m at and who I´m with. its a pity really because after 3 cambios with elder castillo i don´t want to change, but that's the life with missionaries you just get to love the weirdo, and then they leave you.
any way no time left chau

no pics and definately no chicks.
so this week was a good one. we had interviews with the president. I really like him. he has a super good personality (in reference more than anything tooooo the fact that he gets teenagers and understands the inability for latinos to be 100% obedient.) that more than anything has caused me the most grief, but his advice was just worry about you and help them along. you really can´t do more that. and for the pictures i'm sitting at a computer that doesn´t have a usb port that hasn´t lost its precious life, so the wonderfully awful pìctures i took won´t reach you until next week. and plus we went to the beach today how wonderful. the weather here is a nice crispy hot mixed in with some sweat and a few cloudy days. it's actually more humid here than i would have thought. i sweat all the time. it´s awful. but it's cool. just the week after i got your package, i found where to buy peanut butter and coco powder. haha it's justice, but the peanut butter is really expensive or so i have been told. we played beach soccer which is actually really fun. and just chilled for a few hours, which i feel like is a real great way to make the other 6 days of the week hurt more cause we always have things to do . but a lot of missionaries wouldn´t make it if they didn´t have that time to relax. as for me i am just learning to be content with where i am. i spent almost all my time in the mtc trying to get to peru and almost all of my time in peru wanting to speed up the time. but i realize that i might never get back. i think it helps give us perspective when we see missionaries going home. to some it makes them trunky, but to me i am really appreciative that i still have a long time to serve. although it's hard. the other thing is when i am done, i will be done and go home and work on something else.
I didn´t know you bought another car. . . thats cool. but it seems that you now have 3 cars in the shop and two more to boot. sorry that your kids are all really hard on the equipment so to speak. so news from the mish. what would really help us out is prayers for new investigadores or better yet lessons with investigators. we are doing all we can to teach, but sometimes we need a little direction, and one thing i am learning daily is to rely more on the spirit. yes this is something hard for me. but yeah.
this last week was quick. at the church stake conference they broadcasted a live meeting from slc with elder bednar and elder scott and some 70 i don´t remember to all of peru. and they gave some of the most powerful talks i have ever barely understood. hahaha they are really spiritual and guided people. they talked a lot about the arrepentimiento and the jovenes in perú that what we need is the youth of today to take over and be the leaders and parents of tomorrow. really awesome stuff. anyway. i didn´t know that having 100 stakes was a really big deal, but apparently it is. peru is one of 5 nations to have 100 stakes i think, but the work here is progressing one family at a time.
the sad new: we pretty much lost one of our best investigatores this week be cause she is having problemas with her parejo. i think they are in a down ward spiral. what's really sad is it wasn´t until we set a date for their baptism that the problems started. super sad stuff but we move on.
we are really working this week for lessons with members and lessons with new investigadores because about all we do is visit less actives and we really want to drop the less part. but we have had some success we have about 3 families that are more or less attending church. which is awesome and hopefully they will bring their families.
i have included a screen shot as an explanation for why i spell things so wrong. any way, lots of love and protection.
May the force be with you your son and most favorite child

Friend in the showers, peanut butter balls and sunglasses
so this week really nothing much happened on the investigator front. i guess we did fix another baptism day with maria palacios so hopefully that goes through. also we have another family that has a wedding date but hasn´t been attending church. and if they don´t start, she´ll still be able to get married, but her baptism is out. and so we keep working.
lately we have been working with luis and maralin. It is a super sad story. they are living together only for their kids, and i am not sure what to do for them cause he seems to want to put things right, but she seems like she´s done waiting. it's a mess. they aren´t married and soooooo for those of you that have wives give them a kiss cause there are enough broken families in the world. and you're just lucky enough to be whole
so on to something hilarious I wore the same tie for the entire month of august the nasty flower tie ( which i love) anyway no body noticed an entire month and nobody said anything. and that's when i realized that we are storm troopers. people hardly notice that we are different people when we get to a new area.
which brings me to who is in the new star wars cast. i´m dying to know if i am going to be disappointed or not.
also for the star wars front i have been thinking a lot about the quote from yoda which goes
Ready are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own counsel will I keep on who is to be trained. A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things. You are reckless.
so i have been thinking mostly that i am luke skywalker. actually i had this thought before, which is why i have the grand picture of him. but all my life i look forward never focusing on the moment. which is a problem because it will make you really unhappy especially when you have two years of doing the same things over and over again. not that tracting isn´t fun. but it gets tiresome, and you're hot. and it really sucks, and then somebody invites you in, and you feel the spirit, and you testify and it's beautiful. and then the night comes and you wake up the next day, and you have to fight to have the spiritual experiences again. don´t get me wrong i love peru; i love serving. i just always have rushed from one experience to another. and as dad says sloooow doooown. for this my compañion is awesome he is really slow.
i have my first interview with the president this week wonder how that will be.
so our little scorpion friend: found him in the shower while i was pooping, which was a good thing cause he scared the poop right out of me. really convenient if you ask me. we have a bunch of these little guys around. they are kind of a nuisance. we even found one in the church.
one of the new missionaries is from south jordan. and he actually hung out with nicole laraway haha small world. his name is Elder haha (side story: today one of the latino elders called my attention with gringo i chewed him out a bit cause my name is elder you shouldn´t forget it.) holmes yes as in sherlock. oh and from what i heard the mtc in provo takes the cake for mtc experiences. although they have soft serve ice cream in the lima mtc. that would pretty cool.
oh this week i decided i hate tv. because peruvians watch the darn thing all the time, and it is soooo hard to have a solid spritual lesson when you have to ask the to turn the tv off (side note they call it a teli which just sounds terrible). as for the spanish i understand about 50%. i work hard, but they just say tons of words that i don´t know. it's great though cause you can always fake understanding. like the other day elder rich a different new elder was asked which sports do you play? and he was like huhg and elder yañez was like futbol basketball which sports? and he was like oh claro, and i whisper what the question was and he was like oooohh no musica. yeah really not much else hasta proto

letter for week 54646541657641684634198
of the pictures you got: the classic gonzo, some wild flowers, the beach huts and the boat (that's for dad). it was freaking awesome. and the me sailing. i hope you like my cavels, the pants, they cost a lot but they look sweet. every body down here wears them. i love it. they dress super cool
so somethings about peru that i learned new: their beaches have white people in them. its crazy. haha and they like journey to livin on a prayer, hotel cali by the eagles, black eyed peas, ace of base, moves like jagger. yeah that's a blast like everyday and on top of the world by imagine dragons. yeah pretty much they got it all.
the bus service is fun you just stand on the side of the road flag somebody down to take you where you want to go weird but fun. and darn convenient if you only have two or three people. but with a crowd of missionaries it's tough.
peruvians think they speak castillano which is an accent of spanish that they use in argentina. It is really funny because a little kid ones told me habla español (you speak spanish) and i was like estamos hablando español (we speak spanish) and the parents are always saying learning castillano was really hard. right no learning español was pretty tough um
they have these coconut balls which are sweet.they a carmely coconutty awesome
most of their sweets aren´t too good, but i try them anyway. i haven´t found a cook book yet, but you should try arroz amarillo con pollo or carne de rez yellow rice is weird. also they have a sauce called tari, that's good. i have no idea how to make it but its from some famous chef in lima
the dogs here are so ugly. no joke they don´t have hair and are black naked. nasties uhgh make me shudder.
you guys need to make ciffles. look it up on the internet cause they be dang good with salsa de aji
also peru is the country with the animals drawings that can be seen from the sky. i didn´t know that. freaking cool.
they have things that look like cheetos but are not like cheetos. its quite depressing. they taste like a chili pepper. yeah its rough, and they don´t have sour patch kids or swedish fish. but they have lemon drop like candy. and their chocolate isn´t bad
also i don´t think you will ever get a package from me cause it costs 25 dollars for a half kilo and that's like nothing any way.
they eat cancho which is like popcorn but just the kernel and bigger. i don´t know how to make it yet. but i'm going to learn.
so this week is the last week of the transfer, and i got the match maker song stuck in my head. i won´t lie elder castillo is great, but i need to move on. cause we aren´t the most effective together. its been tough cause he is super serious.
oh i was watching the news as we were teaching a lesson (i will repent for that tonight promise) and the guys phone goes off and he picks it up. and they cut to commercial. let me tell you they do things differently down south. hahaha
in the church they have jovenes adultos soteros and adultos solteros, and they call it jas y as and its sounds like they are swearing all the time. i get so confused. haha
i decided as missionaries our day of rest got jacked, but i have to get back to work.

The Beard is Gone!
so no pictures today. mostly because i left the memory card at the apartment and also cause there just wasn´t anything really good to take pictures of. i´m always on the look out, but hey the only thing i had to show you was my new pants and my super man socks. they're legit! and i had some voice recordings, but you will get three next week for the three weeks i didn´t send one. we are super busy here and really aren´t doing a lot. but we had 4 investigatores attend church and 4 or 5 less active families come. it was a small miracle. we haven´t had so many people go to church in this whole transfer. but there is always something to improve, and one of the things that we really haven´t had much of is new investigators. we have been knocking doors, but that's about as effective as peeing into the wind. perhaps not that bad but pretty much.
So the best worst thing of my life: we were teaching an older lady named calixta the first lesson and just as we were talking about the book of mormon in walks her husband, who we hadn´t met before, and he was super nice. He sits down asks us which church are you're from. i managed to say ¨the church of jesus cristo. . .
him: no all are from christ but what are you? evangelicals . ..
me: sí . . we´re form
him: so your evangelicals
me: no we´re from the church of jesus christ of latter day saints
him: so evangelicals
elder castillo some people know us as mormons
him: (with a face that looks like the devil himself has just entered his house.) MORMONS you mormons don´t believe in god
me: We believe in God
him no you don´t. your church is full of satan worshipers
me no we believe in God just as much as you do
him don´t lie to me like that you don´t believe in God. you're just here to build your churches and gather riches for the devil
me brother we believe in God the eternal father his son jesus. . .
him no you don´t. i have my catholic bible and my church and you don´t know anything
me i believe in the bible
him no you don´t. where was the first church established?
me with adam and eve
him you don´t know nothing. it was established in canaan by moses (although moses never made it to canaan but who needs to be biblically correct or anything)
me huh. . .
me will you let me share a scripture with you from the book of mormon.
him book of the devil
me in nephi 25 we preach of christ rejoice in christ. . .
him i won´t have these satanic lies in my house get out!
elder castillo hermano we believe in God and jesus christ and we know that our message is true and we know that you will know too. and we will be judged by our work by God
and as we left we shook hands and that was that.
hahaha
he was so mad and so convinced that we were lying that we believed in God
whew that was bad. me and elder castillo just laughed it off. especially cause we left a book of mormon with calixta hahahaha
I love this gospel, and I know its true. and ain´t nobody got the right to tell me i don´t believe in God.
I love you my famidamly and I am so glad that we have this gospel. i know my letters don´t usually have a huge religious tone, and that's probably because it still is weird to me that i am a preacher of sorts.
(but in reality I know that this church is true. I know that Jesus Christ is the Christ and this is His church. I know I've been called by a prophet, and I have been called to this work. I know that we have a living prophet, and he has the priesthood to lead the church.)
I love you guys and miss you its true. but this is where i need to be for the next 20ish months of my life. in this very short time i have learn so much about who i am and what i stand for.
and like every good missionary i have something for you to do: read your patriarchal blessing. this is the thing i love most about my study time is that i can read my personal scriptures
perú is awesome and i can´t wait to see more
oh and president is making the transfers, so we´ll see what happens.
may the force be with you

8.5.13
this is peru mas o menos. (more or less) i actually didn´t mean to capture this sign. its for the election in 9 months. they're everywhere.
so this is pizza. we went to one of the other missionaries peinsionistas houses in corrales and made pizzas. they have a giant orno or oven. its pretty cool you can see it in the other pictures. i love the pan or bread as we call it in the US. it was good, but the sauce was a bit thin and way too salty. but the bread was so airy, it was ridiculous.
so my absolute favorite thing about peru right now is the banana farms. noooooo the market. noooooo the house painted neon colors inside and out. noooooooooooooooooooooooo i really don´t know its all so freaking awesome! i love the way that the people here salud one another all the time. i mean all the time.
but at the same time peru has its faults. there isn´t peanut butter and chocolate is dang hard to find. i have a secret stash. don't tell elder castillo. tons of elders are super trunky. they have 3 weeks left and are freaking out. and i get asked is this too hipster? sadly i just wanted to say why yes yes it is.
the quick stories of the day:
*i don´t have a picture but google granerio. they're not so good. don´t know why they cost so much.
*one of the missionaries was trying to describe papaya to me, and he innocently asked como se llama papaya en ingles? (how do you say papaya in english?)
*we knocked a door and a woman answered or was it a man?????? or both????? we still don´t know.
*my agenda is freaking sweet. don´t have a picture, but i´ll send one next time.
*the sunday shirts here are super thin, like you can see through them, but they are also a lot cooler. so that's pretty good
for cailie: i don´t know if i have told you this before, but they say yo lo a lot here. but it doesn´t mean the same thing. it´s like yo lo tengo or i have it
we encountered tres borrachos (3 drunks) this week. it was super weird. one of them grabbed elder castillos leg and was crying and ohhh my family ... . .sob sob. and then we told him we had to go, and he stood up and showed us where he lived. so we could come visit him .yeah it was super weird
send me the address for elder eatough por favor
oh we can't eat lettuce, pork, or cebiche. i think this is the mission for you cailie.
can´t say more cause time is up.
hope you love the pics.
